Issue zero: building the signal pipeline

This is a test of the publishing system rather than a finished editorial issue. The premise is simple: collect broadly, filter aggressively, and reserve human attention for the small number of developments that might change how data systems are built or operated.

The working thesis

The interesting AI infrastructure stories increasingly look like data stories: storage layouts, schedulers, caches, retrieval systems, observability, and query engines. At the same time, AI is changing how database teams investigate incidents, write queries, and design products.

The useful territory is that overlap, not another general AI news digest.

What this prototype validates

• RSS and Atom feeds are collected into append-only metadata.
• A local review step extracts recent articles for an agent without permanently mirroring third-party content.
• This Markdown file becomes the canonical public page.
• The same file can be rendered as email-safe HTML and uploaded to Kit as an unsent draft.

The editorial constraint

Summaries are cheap. The publication becomes useful only when it explains why a development matters, connects it to other changes, or identifies the part of a claim that deserves skepticism.

That work remains the editor’s responsibility.
